On Barclays

It was a big mistake joining barclays. Useless company filled with useless people. Infact horrible people. Praveen Sharma and Navneet Shivhare should be killed. Dont know anything. Useless fucks. I probably learnt more than what they will learn in their entire time there. Don't even know how to calculate RWA in a downturn. In fact even Kapil Vohra probably didn't know how to calculate RWA in a simple manner. And these assholes have the audacity to challenge me and say that I dont know what I am doing. Kill model monitoring team.

Barclays hires people without relevant experience. They don't even have the courtesy to train people. They expect that since you are an engineer, you can learn the work. People have to learn everything themselves. Asking questions is considered taboo. Managers will consider it an affront if you ask questions. How the fuck is one expected to clear their doubts? Horrible culture. Everyone suffers. The company suffers, the employee suffers. Although credit risk is easy at an overall level, a beginner faces problems due to sheer number of new concepts they have to learn in a short timeframe. After learning a bit, there is no room to grow further. Completely stagnant environment. My whole time there was wasted.

I only had a financial risk management certification (FRM) and a SAS certification. Purely theoretical knowledge on credit risk side with no relevant practical experience in credit risk. Still I got hired. Says volumes about the company. Everyone in my team had almost the same story. minimal relevant experience. praveen sharma and navneet shivhare probably still don't know the basics.

I have written a book (WIP) to make it easier for people to understand credit risk and not get overwhelmed in the beginning. Anyone preparing for a credit risk job will benefit from my book. Praveen sharma and navneet shivhare should definitely read it.
