Emotional pain involves the same brain regions as physical pain, suggesting the two are inextricably connected.

Should emotional pain punishment be put on same level as physical pain punishment? The difference being that physical pain is more or less objective whereas mental pain can be subjective (at least to the doer. If we can measure pain levels using some instrument then emotional pain can also be considered objective).
